TJs Inspirational Transformation

I decided to blog about my husband, TJ's, transformation because it is unbelievable and he is one of my biggest motivations. Like me, he has been over weight for much of his life. He weighed in at over 320lbs in high school. Unfortunately, this is the only "before" picture we could find of him since, like most over weight people, he didn't like to have pictures taken of himself. We had to go all the way back to his moms myspace page to find it!

He decided he was tired of being the "fat" kid and started dieting and exercising. When we met in March 2012, he had managed to lose over 100lbs. Neither of us knew, when we met, that the other one had ever struggled with weight issues or that we had each lost a significant amount of weight. It ended up being the common denominator that really helped bond us and help us to understand each other in a way that others couldn't. We started going to the gym together every day where he really helped me develop my love for weight lifting. The picture below is what TJ's body looked like when we met...yes, those are his old pants he is standing in.
Quite the size difference! He has amazing skin elasticity and has managed to lose all his weight without suffering from very much lose skin. His journey didn't stop when we met. He is very driven and never satisfied with his results. He always strives to be better, look better and know more about fitness than anyone else. He continued working out and began really focusing on lifting and diet more than cardio and has managed to again, totally transform himself.
So, for all those of you who think all you need is cardio....think again! With a little help from his buddies at work I finally convinced him to commit to competing in a men's physique competition. TJ will be competing in the Phil Heath Classic on March 15, 2014.
I will be posting progress updates along the way, as well as, meal preps and other aspects of our life as we get him "stage ready".
